The Point levers now in place at Weldale

14/04/08                 The tunnel has been painted green to blend in a little better with it’s surroundings. The point levers are working well, having been installed down at Weldale. The coaches are progressing well, with the cream stripe in undercoat, awaiting some fine weather to finish the top coats. We finally have some proper ash pits after eight years! They are doing the job well, with some nice heavy “ elephant grating “ over the pits to prevent people falling down them!

21/04/08                 A start has been made on the Compressor Shed, I will be used to house the compressor, blowers and coupling pins giving us the extended facilities to make steaming up a little easier. The compressor will also be used to charge the air braking on the train, with the hose already at the far end of the station. The coaches have had their cream stripes added to give a more liveried feel.

03/05/08           The coaches have been tidied for use, and the rake of three Ex-Longleat coaches are now in regular use, running round the train at either end of the railway. New couplings are being investigated to speed up this process and to make it easier on the loco driver to judge the distance.

We have had an ex-demo bus stop kindly donated to us by Abacus Ltd. This will serve as a shelter at Welldale and was delivered to us as a kit of parts. Keep watching here for a running commentary on how to erect one of these!
